." I see movement as way way to
celebrate our bodies  to celebrate our
aliveness!" My students often tell me that in
the classroom I create a safe supportive
space where everyone feels challenged
and no one feels left behind. I would
characterize the classes I share as playful,
organic and energetic-more like a
celebration of movement than some
achievement-oriented class. My goal in the
classromm is to give 100% and encourage
students in a loving way to do the same.

KRISZTINA

Krisztina is the founder and
artistic director of Czigany
World Fusion Dance. Her
formal dance training began
over 30 years ago with classical
ballet and she has been
building on that foundation
ever since. She has studied
many dance styles over the
years and combined them all in
the formation of Czigany
World Fusion Dance.

As a teacher she strives to not
only teach a series of steps,
but to also show her students
the magic that is dance and
the freedom it gives them to
feel and to express what lies
deep within their soul.
"'Everyone has a beauty inside
that is so indescribably
brilliant; one that consists of
all of their passions, their
hopes, their fears, and their
dreams. I help my students to
get in touch with that part of
themselves through dance."

As a performer, Krisztina not
only shows you the dance
visually, but you can actually
feel her become one with the
music. You will experience the
combination of dance and
music in waves of energy and

AEGELA

Since 1978, Aegela’s love of
Middle Eastern dance has
taken her throughout the US
and to the heart of the art---
Egypt.  She has engaged in
several performing tours of
Cairo and Alexandria, Egypt.
It
was on her first tour that
Aegela was awarded the
coveted Lifetime
Performer’s license by the
Egyptian Ministry of
Culture, an honor held by
only 11 foreigners.
 While
working in Egypt, Aegela
enjoyed the privilege of
studying with famed
dancer/choreographer
Mahmoud Reda, of the Reda
Troupe, and with Madame
Busi, principal dancer with the
National Folkloric Company.

During her teaching career,
Aegela has conducted
classes for the deaf and
hearing impaired, and devised
a format for use in
occupational therapy
rehabilitation programs
assisting women in regaining
range of motion.  Recently,
she developed a dance
program for women
recovering from strokes.
These experiences have
enhanced her ability to
articulate movement and
discern what subtle changes
are required for the desired
effect.

Aegela frequently lectures in
major universities on the topics
of Middle Eastern art and
music, as well as women’s
roles in that society.  Speaking
engagements have included
Emory University School of
Near Eastern Studies, Georgia
State University, Mercer
University, Lourdes College
and Mercy College.  A
television special, “Dance
Atlanta,” highlighted Aegela as
a leading artist of Middle
Eastern dance.  She was the
featured performer in
numerous Middle Eastern,
Greek, and Turkish nightclubs,
as well as studio director and
coach to Atlanta’s premier
dancers before arriving in the
Midwest.

Now residing in the Toledo, OH
area, she conducts multi-level
classes in her studios, The
Aegela Centers for Middle
Eastern Dance (Toledo, OH
and Blissfield, MI) as well by
contract in several satellite
locations. As a national
seminar instructor, Aegela
encourages participants to
“think outside the box” using
traditional movements in
unusual combinations, or
“Aegela-isms.”  In her
classroom, women celebrate
their unique images and
personalities discovered
through the joy of dance.

Aegela is the recipient of the
2004 Stella Award for Lifetime
Achievement in Middle Eastern
Dance and the Zaghareet
Magazine nominee for the
2006 Lifetime Achievement
Award. In 2006, she and co-
author, Chelydra (VA), were
selected to present their
Ghawazee Suite in the
Choreographers’ Showcase
sponsored by Old Dominion
University.

Aegela is featured in the
book, Snake Hips, and is
referenced in numerous
academic theses.

she has taken photos for many
local belly dancers, including the
Lunatic Vagabonds, the Unveiled
Studio in Ann Arbor, Nadira,
Amber King, and Amira Jurmu, as
well as  many local dance events.

subjects achieve the very best
images possible. Recently she

yoga for 20 years, and has
been teaching for 10.  She is

opportunity to study with many
notable yoga instructors,

features a strong focus on
yoga’s amazing physical
benefits.

In 2008, Diabla started taking
Amethyst’s bellydance
classes, and Amethyst started
taking Diabla’s yoga classes.
Both women immediately
realized that these
beautiful art forms
harmonized with each
other, and decided to
merge their skills to
create a workshop that
blended bellydance with
yoga
.    The muscle isolations
and spinal mobility of
bellydance complements the
strengthening and lengthening
effects of yoga, resulting in
new ways for bellydancers to
feel movement and think about
the body.

Bellydance-Yoga Fusion not
only focuses on stretching
and strengthening the muscles
bellydancers use most; it also
adds a meditative element by
suggesting ways to use the
art of bellydance as a vehicle
for celebrating the body,
building strength of spirit, and
adding  joy to every move!
Najla performs at parties &
celebrations, & teaches bellydance
at the University of Windsor & the
Puce Sports and Leisure Centre
